Preferences

All of attribute editor's global settings live in its addon preferences. Open them from Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → attribute editor, or click the gear icon in the header of the Attributes panel to jump straight there.

Restore a single setting

Whenever a setting differs from its default, a small arrow button (↺) appears next to it. Click it to reset just that one setting without touching the rest.

Settings are saved automatically and persist across Blender sessions. If another installed addon conflicts with attribute editor, a warning listing the offending addons is shown at the top of the preferences.

Attribute Visualization

These settings control the look of the attribute labels and corner highlights drawn in the 3D Viewport. They affect the overlay only.

Value Formatting

Setting Notes
Decimal Places Applies to float and float-vector labels.
String Max Length Strings longer than this are truncated with a trailing .... Set to 0 for no limit.

Labels

Setting Notes
Text Size Also scales the color swatch drawn for color attributes.
Text Color Labels always keep a black outline for legibility, regardless of this color.
Background Color RGBA — the alpha channel sets how opaque the label's background plate is.

X-Ray

By default, labels in All mode are hidden behind solid geometry while labels in Selected mode show through it. These two options let you override that occlusion behavior — see Label Occlusion for the full picture.

Setting Notes
Force X-Ray Labels Always Draws every label through geometry in both modes. Skips the per-frame depth-buffer read, so it also speeds up the viewport on smaller meshes.
Force X-Ray Labels When Visualizing Selected Only relevant in Selected mode. Turn it off to have selected-element labels occluded by geometry like in All mode.

Corner Selection Highlight

Controls the arcs drawn at selected and active face corners.

The Corner Selection Highlight option decides when the arcs appear:

Option When arcs are drawn
Off Never.
When Corner Attribute Visualized Only while at least one corner attribute is currently visualized.
When Corner Attribute Present Whenever the mesh has any corner attribute, even if none are visualized.
Always In Edit Mode at all times, regardless of corner attributes.

The remaining options control how the arcs look:

Setting Notes
Corner Arc Radius Fraction of the shortest edge touching the corner, so arcs scale with each corner's geometry.
Corner Arc Max Size Hard cap on the radius in scene units, to stop arcs on large faces from becoming huge.
Corner Arc Segments Number of straight segments approximating the arc; higher looks smoother.
Corner Arc Line Width Arc thickness in pixels.

Keymaps

The Edit Attributes popup is bound to Ctrl+D by default. Use this section to rebind it, or to restore the shortcut if it was removed.

Import / Export Preferences

attribute editor preferences can be exported to a file and imported on another machine or shared with teammates, so everyone works with the same visualization style. The Import, Export, and Search buttons for this are at the bottom of the preferences.

Bug Reporting

The bottom of the preferences also holds a Report a Bug button and a Pack Logs button. See Support for how to use them.
