Asset Packs
Our asset packs come in the form of archive files with the .paq
extension. You can install,
uninstall and update asset packs inside engon
preferences. There, you will also find
a list of all your installed asset packs.
Multi-part Asset Packs
Our packs are full of high-quality resources and some of them can take a lot of space because of it.
To make downloads manageable we split these packs into multiple files with the .paq.xxx
extension (.paq.001
, .paq.002
,...).
This is doubly necessary because both BlenderMarket and Gumroad limit the size of files we can upload.
Extracting Asset Packs
As any archive files, asset packs can be extracted. We do not recommend extracting to unexperienced users, but doing so can bring some benefits to advanced users. For more information, check out Asset Pack Search Paths in Advanced Topics.
Installation¶
Click the Install Asset Pack
button in engon
preferences and a file browser will appear.
Select either a .paq
or a .paq.001
file.
Multi-part Asset Pack Installation
If the pack you want to install comes in multiple parts, have all the parts inside one folder.
engon
will gather the necessary information about the asset pack and it will present you with
an installation dialog. You can select a custom installation directory or use the default one.
After confirmation, engon
will install the asset pack into the
chosen directory. This means that the contents of the asset pack will be copied and moved
into the installation directory and registered into engon
.
After successful installation, you will see your new asset pack listed in the preferences.
Some asset packs also unlock new features for engon
. You can access them from the polygoniq
tab
in the N-panel.
Info messages
During installations, updates and unistallations, the dialog windows will inform you about the state of the operation. If something goes wrong you will get a list of error messages.
Install Path already contains an unregistered copy of this Asset Pack
This warning message shows up if you try to install an asset pack that was installed before
but was not uninstalled correctly. This can happen when you re-install engon
without first
uninstalling asset packs or when you reset your Blender preferences.
However, in this situation you will have an option to re-install your asset pack. Just check
the Try Re-installing
option and confirm the dialog window. The installation process will
automatically delete the already present pack and install the new one.
A lower version of this Asset Pack is already installed
This warning message shows up if you try to install a newer version of an already installed
asset pack. The correct way of updating asset pack is described in the
Updating section.
However, in this situation you will have an option to switch to Updating instead. Just check
the Try Updating
option and confirm the dialog window. The window will automatically switch
to Update dialog.
Updating¶
You can update any installed asset pack if you own a newer version.
Find the installed asset pack you want to update in engon
preferences and click on the Update
button.
Select the newer version of the asset pack. You can select in the same manner as during installation.
engon
will check if the selected asset pack is a newer version of the installed asset pack.
If so, you will be presented with a dialog window showing the specs of the asset pack including
changed version. Confirm the dialog to finish the update.
After successful update, you will see the updated asset pack listed in the preferences.
See "What's new" in the asset browser
When an existing asset pack is updated to a newer version, engon
browser shows you the
What's new
button that you can use to check what assets were introduced since the last update.
When you update
engon
, the "What's new" feature won't show up. This is a limitation of the current update system, we will fix this in follow-up release.
Uninstalling¶
You can uninstall any previously installed asset pack.

preferences and click on the
Unistall
