Asset Browsers
There are two ways to spawn assets from Asset Packs
: Blender Asset Browser
and
engon Asset Browser
. We recommend using engon Asset Browser
to spawn assets.
engon Asset Browser¶
engon
comes with advanced asset browser that has many useful features such as advanced filtering
and different spawn options. Read more about engon Asset Browser
here.
Blender Asset Browser¶
You can also spawn assets from native Blender Asset Browser
. All asset packs are automatically
added into Blender Asset Libraries
upon installation.
Make sure that you're using Blender 3.2 or newer
If you want to use the native Blender Asset Browser
, you must use Blender 3.2 or a newer
version. This is necessary in order to ensure compatibility.
Working with Blender Asset Browser¶
You can now head over to Asset Browser
inside Blender
and after you select the suitable
User Library
(top left in the panel) addon assets should load. Initially it might take a while
for previews to cache.
Please consult the official Blender Asset Browser documentation for more details.
Limitations of Blender Asset Browser¶
One potential disadvantage of using the Blender Asset Browser
is that it may not have as
advanced filtering options as our engon Asset Browser
.
Append
and Append (Reuse Data)
work as expected, however Link
behaves differently from the
core addon functionality. The addon will create an empty that instances a collection that it
automatically links. The Blender Asset Browser
will just link the collection. This means that you
will not be able to move it, unless you instance it.
